EXPERT RESPONSE
Depending on what your performance requirements are, you could certainly use an iSCSI-based storage system using SATA, Fibre Channel, SAS or UltraSCSI-based disk drives as an alternative to SSA. There are also Fibre Channel storage systems from IBM (DS4100 formerly FAStT100) and others that use SATA disk drives that could be attached to an IBM pSeries. While targeted more at IBM xSeries environments and BladeCenters, IBM recently announced the DS300 with iSCSI host attachment using UltraSCSI disk drives.
